The World Health Organization in its report on
acupuncture research stated that acupuncture has been proven to be
effective for the following conditions:
Women's health issues: +Induction of labor +Correction of malposition of the fetus (breech presentation) +Morning sickness +Primary dysmenorrhea
Digestive issues: +Nausea and vomiting +Acute and chronic gastritis +Acute bacillary dysentary +Acute epigastralgia
+Peptic ulcer +biliary colic
Other conditions: +Stroke +Essential hypertension (high blood pressure) +Primary hypotension +Renal colic +Leucopenia +Adverse reactions to radiation or chemotherapy +Allergic rhinitis including hay fever +Depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke)
The report also listed over 70 other conditions for which acupuncture may be effective but research is lacking at present.
